Hello, SM 8th Grade Parents!
TEST PREP:  We have received a few questions regarding whether or not we advise that your child take a HSPT (High School Placement Test) prep course to prepare for the high school entrance exams that Carondelet and De LaSalle will administer. Please know that CHS and DLS do not offer these courses.  If fact, in the past, both schools have said there is really not a need for our students to do a formal test prep class.
Please know that if you wish (or your child wishes to prepare further), you may purchase a HSPT test prep booklet  from most bookstores such as Barnes and Noble or on Amazon.  Again, this is just a tool that you may choose to use.  It is not a requirement.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION:  Both CHS and DLS focus on a student's grades and behavior as their top consideration for admittance (this includes conduct, effort and attendance/tardies).  They may also consider the school that the person is coming from and whether or not the student is an active Catholic.  The placement test is a third criteria, but not the most important one, in considering a student for admittance.
HIGH SCHOOL VISITS:  DLS and CHS visit our 8th graders in the month of October, and will let the students know the specific dates that the online application must be completed by,as well as the date for the entrance exam.  It is usually held in early January.
